Question:
We got different quotes and each of them states a different square footage for our kitchen countertop. How can that be?

Our opinion about this matter:
Well, we wonder sometimes about that too. It appears that the rules of mathematics are occasionally used in different ways.
However, there are at least three different ways to measure a countertop’s surface. You can measure surface covered, surface installed, and material installed. The first would be somewhat odd, but it is not exactly wrong. On many standard installs, the second and the third should yield the same result. Nevertheless, in the moment drop-down profiles, shelves, and consoles are part of the design, there is actually more material installed than surface visible. Therefore it is possible that we quote the same kitchen with a different square footage of material installed on different designs.
